  1. Use a strong password
    A strong password will have at least 8 characters that contain letters, numbers, and special characters. When creating your password, always avoid using personal information, such as your name or date of birth. Instead, use something unique that only you know.
     
  2. Do not reuse your password
    Do not use your Online Banking password for other accounts, like Facebook or email.
     
  3. Do not give confidential information over email
    The Maries County Bank will never ask for you confidential information via email. If you receive an email asking you to verify any account information, do not respond and call The Maries County Bank directly.
     
  4. Never give personal information unless you know who you're communicating with
    Never give out personal information over the phone, through mail, or on the Internet unless you've initiated the contact and are sure you know who you're dealing with. If you must share personal information, always confirm that you are dealing with a legitimate organization.
     
  5. Access your accounts from a secure location
    Do not access your Online Banking account from a public computer.
     
  6. Always log out when you are done
    It's always a good idea to log out of your Online Banking account when you've finished your business. This will lessen the chance of someone gaining unauthorized access to your account.
     
  7. Keep your computer up-to-date
    Make sure your computer is always up-to-date with the latest security updates. Securing your computer is the first step to preventing someone from accessing your accounts without your consent.
     
  8. Monitor your accounts regularly
    Regularly monitoring your accounts is the best way to catch unauthorized transactions. Call The Maries County Bank immediately if you suspect someone has been authorizing unsanctioned transactions on your account.

  2. Protect your personal information
    Don't share your PIN or password with anyone, and don't save them on your mobile device. Think twice about accessing your accounts on a phone or device that you share with another person.
     
  3. Use passwords
    Password protecting your mobile device can help prevent access to your information in the device. Don't use easily identifiable passwords like your name or birthday.
     
  4. Use secure websites or apps
    Don't login to your accounts through links that are sent to you by email or on a website or app you don't recognize. When using free or public wi-fi, try to use a private network and go to a secure site that begins with HTTPS.
     
  5. Remove sensitive information from your old mobile device
    If you get a new mobile device, be sure to delete your data and information from the old device. You may have left names of banks, passwords, or other clues that could help identify your personal information.
     
  6. Report the loss or theft of your mobile device
    If you lose your mobile device, don't forget to report the loss to the bank if your device can provide access to your accounts through apps.
